Alumni Interviews
Alumni Interviews
Every year, our alumni support the region's applicants and the College by participating as alumni interviewers. Alumni interviewing takes place once a year around January or February in South Florida. We rely heavily on our volunteer alumni interviewers to interview around 200 applicants every year.

Book Awards
Book Awards
For many years, alumni clubs across the country have recognized outstanding high school students by presenting them with a book award. Inscribed with a personalized bookplate, individual alumni have the opportunity to connect with a deserving student at a local high school, either by participating in the presentation of a book or writing a congratulatory letter. Winners are selected by guidance staff at the individual schools. The Dartmouth Club of South Florida has a strong program in Miami-Dade and Broward, awarding nearly 40 books annually.
The purpose of the award is to recognize the achievements of students in the year prior to their high school graduation with a book written by a Dartmouth author together with marketing materials provided by the College. This is in an effort to make South Florida high school students more aware of Dartmouth, potentially piquing their interest in applying to the College.
We would like to extend to you the invitation to present this book award on behalf of Dartmouth College and our Club this Spring. While the book itself is a powerful gesture, the presence of a Dartmouth alum would make the presentation that much more impactful.
Each book costs the club about $25. With your support of time and/or a gift or sponsorship of a book, you will expand the awareness of Dartmouth among a key group of students here in south Florida. Please take a moment to use the links here to be the contact point for a local school or support the 2018 program with a donation.
Your help in both areas is greatly appreciated. An alumni volunteer will follow up with you within 48 hours!
At the Admitted Students event held here last month, several parents of full-scholarship students approached us directly to express their concerns about securing necessary winter clothing for their entering freshmen sons and daughters. One mom, who is a single mother and service sector employee, lamented that these expenses are a significant burden to bear, even with her daughter working a summer job. She, in particular, was worried about purchasing a coat that would be warm enough for a harsh New Hampshire winter that neither she nor her daughter had ever experienced.
We know that many in our Dartmouth family are willing to make a difference and help these students begin their college experiences with fewer day-to-day concerns. We are asking you to support these students, if you can, so that they can focus on having a successful transition to life in Hanover .
We are launching a new initiative at the Dartmouth Club of South Florida called “Fleeces for Floridians,” and we need your help! We are working hand-in-hand with the Admissions Office and the Financial Aid Office at the College on this program. This year, it is our goal to give each of the 7 full-scholarship students from South Florida a $500 gift certificate to L.L.Bean in August. L.L.Bean has generously given us a 10% discount for these students. We are hoping to have all donations in place by July 25th.
